IMAGIC IMS – SOFTWARE FOR COMPREHENSIVE IMAGE MANAGEMENT
IN PHARMA and BIOSCIENCE
Whether in basic research, pre-clinical and clinical studies or quality assurance: In modern pharmaceutical and Bioscience environments, our image management system ("IMS") often accompanies the entire workflow from image acquisition to documentation, from image processing to image management and legally compliant long-term archiving.
IMS has a modular design and can be tailored to the customer's requirements, from a laboratory single station to a company-wide network solution.
Learn more about the wide range of IMS modules in the functionalities of image acquisition, management, processing, measuring & labelling as well as documentation & special visualizations.
Image acquisition
ALL RELEVANT META DATA
OF ALL IMAGE SOURCES
From a single user interface, IMS acquires the image and associated metadata from all image sources in your lab, thus providing the added value for further processing.
From DSLR cameras like Canon EOS, various microscopes and microscope cameras, IMS automatically determines the calibration and other image-relevant metadata.
As a system integrator, we attach great importance to the most complete integration of all image sources and encoded/motorized microscopes of our customers.
In research and development increasingly complex imaging devices such as confocal systems, slide scanners and electron microscopes are used. These devices create very large and proprietary 3D, 4D and 5D data sets. IMS provides readers for more than 180 such special formats, thus enabling the reading of relevant metadata for reporting as well as subsequent processing and presentation of image data.
Please provide the image formats to be read to your Imagic representative, we have a solution for you.
DEMANDING SAMples
OPTIMALLY VISUALIZED
The sample is non-planar and contains reflections, the image does not show the complete "region of interest"? With the IMS acquisition tools, you get the best out of your sample even under most difficult conditions.
IMS module Multifocus for the compensation of a lack of depth of field
Living cells or entire tissue sections are three-dimensional objects with several levels of focus, which are automatically combined to a result image with high depth of field even at high magnifications.
IMS module High Dynamic Range „HDR“ for the compensation of high exposure differences
In fluorescence images, the differences in brightness are so large that strongly fluorescent regions (cell bodies) and fine cell peripheries (dendrites) can only be imaged by several image acquisitions, each with different exposure times as well as their combination. IMS module HDR provides this functionality fully automatically.
IMS Module Time Lapse for the documentation of living cell processes
Whether live cells in the area of Bioscience or long-term recordings in the quality laboratory in the pharmaceutical industry: the controlled recording of individual time intervals with automatic connection to a time-lapse film are just as possible as the recording of continuous films.

QUICKLY FOUND
An image management system often manages hundreds of thousands of data. In order to keep the focus on the essentials despite the data volume and to always find the desired parts quickly, optimized clarity as well as efficient data filtering play a central role.
The IMS Client with the Image Manager together with the IMS Server are the heart of the IMS image database. In addition to the administration of the entire image material with metadata, any additional document types such as Word®, Excel®, PPT®, PDF can be stored in an order-oriented way.
In addition to the standard filter functions for the individual metadata fields, the IMS Client provides an optional Quick Search module.
Quick search means internet-like, instant identification and display of the desired information in the entire inventory of hundreds of thousands of hierarchical records. Just search for familiar terms, word parts, combination criteria and placeholders.
ACCESS AND EXCHANGE
WHO, WHEN, HOW: ITS YOUR DECISION
IMS provides both an XML-based and a Web-based REST interface for the data exchange with 3rd-party systems, such as laboratory or order management systems (LIMS), which can be adapted individually to customer requirements.
The flexible group and user administration can be managed directly in the IMS server or can optionally be synchronized with the customer's LDAP system.
The IMS Client Workplace allows group- and user-specific allocation of access rights to data and functions.
In a validated work environment as well as in the field of data publication, traceability and long-term archiving of original data are compulsory components of a comprehensive data management. The IMS Module Audit Trail and long-term Archiving support your validated workflow.
PROCESSING, MEASUREMENT & ANNOTATION
SAVING RESULTS IN IMAGE
ALL TOOLS AVAILABLE WITHOUT CHANGE OF APPLICATION
Even with best acquisition technology, postprocessing can often effect a significant optimization of the result image. Whether you want to adjust the depth of field, improve contrast, enhance colour, or simply rotate and cut, the IMS image processing module offers you a large number of image processing tools.
For efficient documentation of examinations, the IMS Measuring and Annotation module provides all basic functions such as distance, area, circle, angle and object counters. The following special functions are also supported:
- Live image measurement: single or serial measurements directly on the live image, with optional transfer to Excel
- Special measurements: guided measurement workflows such as for weld seam and hardness indentation
- Automated measurements: user-defined work flows with step-by-step user guidance
All measurement and annotation data can be saved as editable image overlay or can be irrevocably merged into the image.
DOCUMENTATION & SPECIAL VISUALISATIONS
EXAMINATION RESULTS
PRESENTED INDIVIDUALLY
Whether you need an evaluation report in Word® / PowerPoint®, visualization with special viewing tools or a web-based download facility for users without IMS, our solution offers the right tool for your tasks.
With custom templates or directly in the application, with the IMS PowerPoint® and Word® modules, you work as usual in your Microsoft Office® environment. The difference is made by our certified add-in with many extra features, which makes it much easier to create presentations and reports and saves a lot of time.
Thanks to a permanent connection between PowerPoint® / Word® and the IMS database, images inserted into presentations or reports can be updated with measurements and labels for changes in seconds.
With the Large Data Viewer solution, large amounts of images can be directly and quickly visualized as 2D formats or multi-dimensionally, even with minimal network resources.
With the Large Data Viewer, IMS offers a uniform system for displaying and processing the virtual slides. Using current streaming technologies, several hundred gigabytes of data can be visualized quickly and in high quality. The data need not be sent as a complete file, but can be jointly assessed via the web with project partners, e.g. for a second opinion.
With the IMS Module Publisher, you enable easy, fast and secure web-based access to selected images and metadata to your colleagues or students without an IMS client installation. The compressed download is guaranteed as well as the support of watermarks to protect the data.
With the IMS Publisher, large video files for visualization are no longer to be loaded and sent as a whole, but are streamed by your partners simply and directly via the web.
